The Public Appointments Committee (PAC) of Parliament has finally interviewed the newly Appointed Inspector General of Malawi Police Merlyne Nachulu Yolamu.

Joyce Chitsulo, Chairperson of the Committee has confirmed of the interview with the press but could not disclose the results to the media.

According to information at hand, the Committee will submit a report to the whole House for her confirmation process on Friday, this week.

President Lazarus Chakwera appointed Yolamu as Inspector General of the Police replacing George Kainja last month.

If confirmed Yolamu will replace Kainja who was fired after he was implicated in a high profile corruption investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the UK’s National Crimes Agency (NCA).
