The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is today formally welcoming its newly appointed regional governor for the south Thompson Kamangira.

The ceremony is being held at Grace Bandawe Conference Center in the commercial capital Blantyre.

Notable faces at the function are; DPPs Party and Presidential Spokesperson Shadric Namalomba MP, George Chaponda MP, DPP National Organising Secretary Chimwemwe Chipungu,Francis Mphepo, DPPs Womens Director, Bertha Nachuma, Yona Mlotha, Maluwa among others.

Former President Peter Mutharika fired Charles Mchacha on Friday last week for unknown reasons and replaced him with Kamangira.

But inside sources say Mchacha was relieved off his duties after refusing to endorse Mutharika as the party’s torchbearer.
