The Parliamentary Committee on Public Appointments (PAC) will meet on Saturday and Sunday to confirm the newly appointed board members of Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (Mera).

On Thursday, March 24th, President Lazarus Chakwera reconstituted the board following the resignation of the previous board.

The previous board of directors resigned on February 27, 2022, ahead of a scheduled hearing by PAC -following a request from Secretary to the President and Cabinet Zangazanga Chikhosi for their firing due to alleged poor handling of the recruitment of Henry Kachaje- as Mera’s chief executive officer.
