The Southern Region Waterboard has disconnected water supply to the Neno District Council complex due to unpaid water bills, according to a source at the council. The amount owed by the council is said to be close to five million kwacha.
The disconnection of the water supply has compromised sanitation at the busy office complex. The situation is a cause for concern as it poses a health risk to employees and visitors to the council offices.
Neno district commissioner, Hudson Kuphanga, has asked for more time to investigate the matter as he is new in office.
