Ndirande Man Who Supplied Counterfeit Bottled Water To Pay K1 Million Kwacha And Spend A Year In Prison

A man from Blantyre’s Ndirande Township is expected to pay K1 million and also spend a year in prison for supplying counterfeit and defective branded bottled water.

The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) registered a complaint against Universal Industries Limited Nyika Still Water bought at a shop in Ndirande.

According to the complaint, the water had foreign bodies and caused stomach aches after consumption.

Investigations carried out by MBS later proved that one Dickson Mike supplied shops with tap water in used bottles from Universal Industries LTD.

As stated in the Malawi Bureau of Standards Act, such a malpractice attracts a penalty and jail time.
