Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South on Saturday visited Tadikira Mafudza, a step-son to former President Peter Mutharika at Maula Prison in Lilongwe.
Mutharika’s son was arrested last month in connection with the death of 30 people who were found buried in a mass grave in Mtangatanga forest, Mzimba.
He, alongside four others were charged with two counts including murder.
Speaking after the visit Nankhumwa assured Mutharika’s son that he would do everything possible to ensure that he gets a speedy and fair trial.
On his part Tadikila thanked the Leader of Opposition for the visit and said he “never took it for granted.”
While at the prison, the opposition leader also met former cabinet ministers Hon. Uladi Mussa and Hon Henry Mussa.
The former is serving a five year sentence while the latter is awaiting sentencing following his conviction last month.
