NAM affiliate demand AGM

NAM affiliate demand AGM

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) affiliates have given the association two weeks to call for an Annual general Meeting (AGM), failing which they will seek Sports Council’s intervention.

A letter dated January 23 2023 addressed to NAM president Abigail Shariff, regional netball committees and eight district netball committee chairpersons says that holding an AGM is a constitutional requirement and that there are a lot of issues affecting the game that need to be sorted out through the gathering such as finances and internal bickering.

The performance of the Malawi Queens is among the issues raised by the affiliates

They claim that they have been reminding the NAM executive on well. The team is now in talks with my club Bullets. I remain hopeful that by the end of this week something will be done.”

Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga also confirmed the development in an interview.

He said: “Yes, it’s true. Babatunde passed the medical and what is remaining is the transfer fee payment.”

Bullets valuated the player, who impressed the South African side after he won the 2022 TNM Super League Golden Boot with 18 goals, at $50 000.

It was the third accolade for Babatunde who won the 2022 FDH Bank Cup top scorer award as well as the 2021 Airtel Top 8 Golden Boot.

Venda FC were previously in the South Africa Football Association Second Division.

They moved to the National First Division at the start of the 2021-22 season after businessperson Robinson Ramaite purchased the franchise from Cape Umoya United.

Meanwhile, Bullets have announced that Isaac Badu has left the club after his two-year contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

The Ghanaian centre-back joined The People’s Team at the start of the 2022 season and only featured in two competitive games.

A statement also says they have transfer-listed defender Hadji Wali with immediate effect.

Reads the statement in part: “The defender has been advised to look for a club of his choice on the agreement that Bullets and the new club will discuss the transfer.”

Wali joined Bullets in February 2022.

Bullets also say they will loan out Mphatso Magaleta next season.

It says: “The club will determine the loan transfer arrangements of the player. The midfielder arrived at The People’s Team in February 2022. “We [also] expect defender White Kitsen to rejoin the club following the completion of his one-year loan spell at Sable Farming FC.”
