Wife to Mayor for Mzuzu City, Gift Desire Nyirenda, and another person have been rushed to Mzuzu Central Hospital after collapsing during court proceedings.

Councillor Nyirenda was taking a plea in a case where he is being accused of defiling his 14 year old niece name withheld.

Mzuzu Child Magistrates court has since adjourned to 19 August 2022 for bail ruling which the defence prayed for.

The accused, Gift Desire Nyirenda will therefore remain in police custody for the next four days.
