Mzuzu City Mayor Gift Desire Nyirenda’s rape case adjourned to October 12

Senior Resident Magistrate Felix Kazamira has once again adjourned a case involving Mzuzu City Mayor Desire Gift Nyirenda to October 12, 2022.

Northern Region Police Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Maurice Chapola, has confirmed of the adjournment in an interview with the press.

According to Chapola, the adjournment is due to late submission of documents to the defense side by the state prosecutors.

Nyirenda was arrested on August 13, 2022 on suspicion that he defiled his 14 year old niece at his house in Mzuzu.
