Center coordinator for Test and Training Center for Renewable Energy Technologies (TCRET) under the department of Energy Systems at the Mzuzu University (Mzuni) Chrispin Gogoda expressed worry over the low female participation in the renewable energy sector courses.
Gogoda was saying this in Lilongwe during the closing ceremony of a short course in Renewable Energy.
“The department is looking for mechanisms to bring in female participation” said Gogoda.
He added that challenges associated with low access of energy mostly affect women yet they are not actively part of the solution,
Dean of Faculty of Science, Technology and Innovation at Mzuni, Khumbo Kumwenda said access of energy is a very big challenge in Malawi and the short courses are an opportunity to reach out to many Malawians.
The four week’s short course was on Planning, Design, Installation and Management of Renewable Energy Systems.
