Former President Peter Mutharika has fired Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa with immediate effect.

Mutharika has replaced Nankhumwa with former Minister of Agriculture Dr. George Chaponda.

Shadreck Namalomba who doubles as Mutharika’s spokesperson and party spokesperson has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

According to Namalomba, Nankhumwa has now been appointed as Advisor to Mutharika.

The former President has also fired Cecilia Chazama on the post of National Director of women in the party and he has replaced her with Mary Navicha.

Meanwhile, Nannkhumwa is today scheduled to address the press.
