MPs lend a helping hand in delivering AIP fertilizer to selling points

Minister of Agriculture Sam Dalitso Kawale has revealed that Members of Parliament are helping to deliver Affordable Input Programme (AIP) fertilizer from ware houses to selling points.

According to Kawale, over 100 parliamentarians are providing at least two vehicles to load AIP commodities to farmer’s mobile selling points.

Kawale added that only law makers are requested to find transporters and Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) meets the charges.

Member of Parliament for Thyolo South, Mavuto Sandram Scott, said they are facing unavailability of commodities at Chirimba warehouse in Blantyre.

In addition to that, Scott said only few beneficiaries have redeemed the fertilizer in Traditional Authority Thukuta, Nsabwe and Mbawera, and observing if the situation continues, it calls for hunger in the areas.

Minister of Agriculture, Sam Kawale, said there is an overwhelming response.
