More Men Practicing Witchcraft Than Women In Malawi – Afrobarometer Report

The Afrobarometer report indicates that a majority of men (82) percent than women (77) percent believe in the existence of witchcraft regardless of where they come from.

On calls to criminalise witchcraft practice, 72 percent of Malawians agree with this stand.

The report also indicates that 74 percent of Malawians are said to believe in witchcraft.

The Northern region has a majority of Malawians who believe in witchcraft at 90 percent followed by the Southern region with 83 percent of Malawians while the Central region has the least number of Malawians who believe in witchcraft with 73 percent.

Meanwhuile, Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation’s (CHRR) Executive Director, Michael Kayiyatsa has suggested that there should be a way of addressing the challenge of proving witchcraft practice even though alot of Malawians believe in it.
