Information sourced by this publication indicates that mobile money agents for Telkom Networks Malawi (TNM) Mpamba and Airtel money have threatened to go on a national wide strike to force management of the two companies to hike their commission.

This has been revealed in a letter signed representatives of all mobile money agents across the country dated October 28, 2023 seen by this publication.

In the letter disgruntled mobile agents have advised the fellow members not to discharge their duties from 5 November to 10 November with an aim of forcing management to hike their commission which they claim is on the lower side.

According to the letter, the management of the two mobile companies have been reluctant on the matter despite engaging them together with the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM), Malawi Communications Authority (MACRA) and CFTC.
