Mnangagwa cheers flood victims in Blantyre

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa cheered victims of Cyclone freedy who are camping at Kapeni Primary School in the commercial capital Blantyre.

Mnangagwa was accompanied by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and some government top officials.

After cheering the flood victims, Mnangagwa donated various items worthy billions which will be distributed to the victims.

Some of the items donated include; bags of cement, Maize flour and text books which will be distributed to learners affected by the cyclone.

In his speech after the donation Mnangagwa appealed to countries within the Southern Africa Development Community (Sadc) to find strategies in mitigating effects of climate change.

Mnangagwa said one of the strategies is to remove residents who are in disaster prone areas.

The Zimbabwe leader says climate change will continue to burden countries; hence, leaders need to act decisively.

The two leaders have since left for Thyolo District where they will also cheer flood victims.
