Mlaka to cut forth album in December

Musician McDonald Mlaka Maliro is set to release his 13th album Risen King in December.

In an interview yesterday ahead of his show on Saturday at Simbeko Lodge in Nsanje, Maliro said two songs Vinyo Watha and Number One which are already enjoying airplay on various radio and television stations are part of the album.

Mlaka: I hope people will enjoy the album

He said: “This is my 13th album since I joined the music industry in 1999 when I dropped my debut Dzanja Lalemba at IY Studios. I hope people will enjoy the album since many have fallen in love with the two singles.”

He said he was glad that after spending over 15 years without entertaining fans in Nsanje, he will this weekend give them nothing but the best.

“I will be backed by one of the long serving bands Mapale of Mubwera fame. Fans should expect me to be on stage for over three hours and perform my best songs,” said Mlaka.

On his part, Mapale Band administrator James Banda said it is an honour to share the stage with a veteran musician of Mlaka’s calibre.

He said some of the members were inspired by Mlaka’s songs, especially his articulation of diverse stories.

One of Mlaka’s fans, Chifundo Chatambalala, thanked Mapale Band for making it possible to bring the artist to Shire Valley.

He said: “This show is not only for the people of around Nsanje Boma, but the entire Shire Valley districts of Nsanje and Chikwawa. I can say that we missed him while he was abroad. We will welcome him and support his show.”
