Missing woman found dead after drowning in Naperi River

A woman who went missing on June 4, 2023 at Wenela Bus Deport in the commercial capital Blantyre has been found dead after drowning in Naperi River.

The woman only identified as Mai Achitindana Mgawo arrived in the country from Zimbabwe where she was staying on Sunday through Wenela Bus Deport.

It is said that upon arrival at Wenela, the deceased alighted from the Trip Trans Bus around 9pm to answer a call of nature and she never returned.

“We have lost our mum. I was called to police to tell that they found a lady who drowned in Naperi river. They gave me pictures and sent them to the daughter. She confirmed its the mother. ( From my inbox ),” reads in part a message posted by Winnie Nyondo.

Mgawo hails from Matodza Village, Traditional Authority Chowe in Mangochi District.
