MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT CALLS GOVT TO ACT ON HUNGER THAT HAS HIT THE COUNTRY

There was a crucial debate in today’s parliament as some members told the house that people in the country are experiencing serious hunger in their respective homes.

The debate was first ignited by Member of Parliament for Rumphi East, Kamlepo Kalua, who requested for urgent action, saying people in his constituency and in Karonga have been heavily affected.

However, MP for Dowa West, Abel Kayemba also complained that people in his constituency have equally been affected and they are struggling to access maize at Admarc depots.

In agreeing the two, MP for Mulanje Bale  Victor Musowa expressed his worry by saying thaing that people are “dying of hunger” but sadly there seem to be no action.

“As we are talking now, no Admarc depot has been opened in Mulanje,” Musowa said.

Meanwhile Parliament has resumed its meeting with calls from Members for government to act on hunger that has hit some parts of the country.
