Police in Neno are searching for members of the Islamic faith for allegedly assaulting a 72 year woman and three others for selling a land next to their mosque.

The old woman has been identified as Funny Maliseni.

Maliseni said the land was allocated to her by a village group headman Chifenthe years back before it was allegedly offered to the Muslims by Neno district through the agriculture office.

According to Secretary at the mosque Rafik James, the land was bought through their mother body, Muslims Association of Malawi (MAW).

Rafik said after a friendly negotiation with the granny failed, they resorted to use forcefully leave some builders who were developing the land.

The injured who were taken to Neno district hospital for treatment have been discharged.
