MCP Youth member Dala Kalungu speaks out after being assaulted by armed police officer at Kenengo (Watch video)

One the youth members of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Dala Kalungu has finally broken his silence after being assaulted by armed police officers at Kanengo Auction Floors in the capital Lilongwe on Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon the social media was flooded with a video clip showing police officers assaulting MCP youth member.

Many people claimed that the man in the video was a farmer who earlier complained to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of poor prices of Tobacco at the market.

But National Police Spokesperson Pater Kalaya denied the claims, saying the man in the video was an MCP youth member.

Kalaya said Kalungu was acting violently and assaulted a police officer who was stopping him from using a prohibited entrance into the Auction Floors.

He said the incident happened 30 minutes before the President arrived at the Lilongwe Auction Floors to preside over the opening of the market.

On his part, Kalungu denied the claims made by the armed police officers that he acted violently.
