The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) will hold its elective conference next year ahead of the 2025 general election.
MCP spokesperson Reverend Maurice Munthali has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying positions up for grabs.
According to Munthali, candidates are free to contest for any position in the party including that Presidency.
He said the party will soon release the exact date for the elective conference.
Earlier last year, Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara and MCP Vice President for the North Harry Mkandawire endorsed President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as the party’s torchbearer.
The endorsement attracted criticisms from all corners with many calling for firing of the two.
