Maula prison takes swift action to contain Covid-19 outbreak among inmates

Maula prison authorities have taken swift action to contain a recent outbreak of Covid-19 among its inmates.

While the number of positive cases rose from seven to 27 within a two-week period, 15 of the infected inmates have since recovered.

And strict measures have been put in place to prevent further escalation.

Malawi Prisons Service spokesperson Chimwemwe Shaba explains that 12 inmates remain in isolation as the situation is closely monitored.

The prison’s quick response to the outbreak serves as an example of effective management in the face of a public health crisis.
