Maternity Services at Thambani health center have been suspended due to lack of water,faceofmalawi can reveal

But Director of health and social service Dr. Misha Stande has rejected the claims, saying the facility is fully operational.

Pregnant women are being referred to Mwanza district hospital, at a distance of about 20 kilometers due to the water challenge.

Two years ago pumps were stolen at the hospital, the facility has been without water since then, and water drawers have been withdrawn due to payment hitches resulting into the temporary closure.

According to Joyce Chitsulo who is the MP in Mwanza west says that they have plans to drill a borehole at the health center, to replace the water pump which was stolen.
