The Martse Foundation, with support from the Ireland government has donated 50 desks to Chambu Primary School in Lilongwe in efforts to help government address issues facing by the ministry of education such as lack of learning materials.
According to one of the foundation’s board members, Uchizi Nkhata, lack of learning materials is the major problem here in Malawi and there is a need to address these issues in order for learners to have a conducive environment.
Meanwhile, Ambassador of Ireland to Malawi Séamus O’Grady, emphasized the importance of investing in education, saying it helps to advance the country’s development.
The Ireland government granted the foundation K5 million which has been used to purchase the desks.’
The foundation was established in 2022 with the aim of fulfilling the dream of the late Martin Martse Nkhata to improve the education sector by providing desks to different primary schools.
