A magistrate court in Thyolo has sentenced a 51-year old Robert Yobe to 21 years jail term for defiling a 2-year-old girl.

State prosecutor, Sub Inspector Abigail Mayuni, told the court that on April 1, 2022 at around 7 O’clock in the morning, the mother to the victim left her home with two sisters while she went out for business.

Prosecutor Mayuni added that, later, the sisters also left the victim for the market entrusting the convict who was a neighbor, but he then defiled her.

Passing the sentence, Senior Resident Magistrate Asunta Maxwell, concurred with the state and ordered Yobe who hails from Chikumba Village, Traditional Authority Changata to spend the next 21 years imprison.
