MAN SENTENCED 19 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR DEFILING STEPDAUGHTER

Mulanje Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court  has convicted and sentenced Charles Selenji to 19 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling his stepdaughter.

The court through state prosecutor, Sub Inspector Glory Makondetsa said that on February 20, 2023 selenji defiled his stepdaughter and this was discovered after the 8-year old daughter was having difficulties in walking.

After asking her, she revealed that she was defiled, and she was later taken to Chambe Health Centre for examination where they were referred to Mulanje District Hospital.

Makondesa added the father escaped to Mozambique after hearing the news and he was arrested by Malawians living in Mozambique who brought and surrendered him to the police.

In her ruling, Senior Resident Magistrate Shahida Hanif Bakali agreed with the state and sentenced Selenji   to 19-years imprisonment with hard Labour for defilement.

The Charles Selenji is 40 years old and he comes from Bwanali village, Traditional Authority Mabuka, in the district.
