Man in cooler for stealing burial crosses at graveyard in Mchinji

Police in Mchinji have arrested a 42 year old man, Mapeto Kanyama for allegedly stealing 22 burial crosses from the graveyard in the district.

Kanyama is suspected to have stolen the burial crosses from the graveyard of Robert 1 village, at the district border.

According to Mchinji police spokesperson, Limbani Mpinganjira, police received a notice saying the suspect was asking scrap metal dealers to sell them the items.

Mpinganjira also said police has called on relatives of the deceased persons to identify the stolen crosses.

Kanyama is expected to appear before court soon to answer a case of trespassing graveyard.

The suspect hails from Kanyama village, in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Zulu in Mchinji. district.
