Man in coma after being involved in serious accident

Unknown man is in coma at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) after being involved in serious accident on May 28, 2022 at Chirimba railway crossing.

Ndirande Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Kelvin Nyirenda has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Nyirenda, relatives of the said victim are yet to show up.

“Ndirande Police Station would like to inform the general public that unidentified male pedestrian who was involved in a serious road accident on May 28, 2022 at Chirimba railway crossing is still in coma and receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.

“The victim is believed to be 35 to 40 years old and during the time of the accident, he was wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans,” reads in part the police report.

He added: “On this fateful day, he was hit by a motor vehicle which was being driven from the direction of Magalasi heading towards Machinjiri roundabout along Old Chileka road as he was trying to cross from left to right side of the road.

“Due to the impact, he sustained severe head injuries and an open tibia fracture on his right leg.

“Police therefore appeal to those who might have any knowledge of any missing person bearing the above description to report to the nearest police formation or Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for identification.”
