Man handed 11 years for defiling sister-in-law in Chikwawa

The Chikwawa Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a 43-year-old man Petro Record, to 11 years imprisonment for defiling his 13-year-old sister-in-law.

The court heard from police prosecutor Emmanuel Namarwa based at Chikwawa Police Station, that Record commited the offence in the month of February this year.

He said the girl revealed the incident to her mother after she was noticed having difficulties to walk and spending more time in the bathroom than was usually the case.

According to Namarwa, the matter was then reported to Changoina Police Unit who referred the victim to Gaga Health Centre where it was confirmed that the girl was defiled.

Appearing in court, Record pleaded not guilty but senior resident magistrate Byson Masonga convicted him after hearing from five State witnesses and examining evidence brought before the court.
