The Midima First Grade Magistrate court has sentenced Kennedy Nanjiwa, 58, to 10 years imprisonment for defiling and impregnating a minor.

State prosecutor, Sub Inspector Anne Kamwendo said Nanjiwa who is the grandfather of the 17 year-old victim, is alleged to have defiled the minor several times between December 2022 and September 2023.

In court, Nanjiwa pleaded guilty to the charge and prayed for liniency, while Sub Inspector Kamwendo submitted that the convict actions were immoral and dangerous to the minors.

However, Magistrate Lameck Mkwapatira sided with the state and slapped Nanjiwa who hails from Maggie village, Inkosi Bvumbwe in Thyolo with a 10 jail term.
