The Blantyre first grade magistrate court has ordered a man identified as Denmark Phiri to pay a sum of K350,000 or in default serve a three year jail term after the court convicted him of embezzling funds for learners at Nasiyaya Primary school.
Phiri who was at the said time a school committee member solicited funds from the students to support a series of projects within the school.
But in court, he was found guilty before he was ordered to refund the money or in default serve a three year jail term.
The convict has since failed to pay the fine.
Phiri who is aged 44 is from Nakanje Village in the area of traditional authority Nsomba in Blantyre.
