A family in Kisii can now breathe a sigh of relief after burying their kin who has been in the morgue for over the last six years.
The family of Mzee Joseph Abuga Oribo has been in agony since 2017 when the octogenarian died after a long illness, but the burial plans were halted following a court injunction over an unresolved three-acre land dispute.
The situation worsened after the late’s grandson also succumbed to illness at Keroka hospital.
The body of the grandson was also detained for more than three months amid a burial stalemate. It took the intervention of Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to have the body released for burial.
Dinah Moraa the widow expressed her joy seeing her 85-year-old husband together with the grandson finally being laid to rest at their home in Iranya Village in Nyamache.
