One person has died while another one has sustained severe head injuries after a motorcycle they were riding got involved in a road accident at Faida Bandawe area in the Rumphi-Bolero road.

Rumphi Police spokesperson Sub Inspector Noel Kamchenga said the accident occurred last night when the two were travelling from Bolero to Rumphi.

Police have identified the deceased as Rabson Nkhwazi, 35 of Chilongozgi village while the other one is Menard Mhone, 31 from Lupoka village all from Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in Rumphi.

It is reported that the rider of the motorcycle Menard Mhone failed to negotiate a corner at the said place and went offload where both sustained severe head injuries.

Nkhwazi was pronounced dead upon arrival at the district’s hospital and Mhone is still receiving treatment there.
