A 45 year-old man has found dead after a mine collapsed on him when he was digging gold with his son at Chithimbiri River in Kasungu.
Public Relations Officer for kasungu Police Station Joseph, Kachikho Kasungu has confirmed the fate and identified the deceased as Godfrey Chirombo.
According Kachikhothe son left his father to attend to other things but at a distance, he reportedly saw that a hole shaft which his father was using had fallen.
The son called for help from well-wishers who came to rescue his father but their efforts proved futile as the body was found lifeless.
The matter was reported to Ndonda Police Unit and in accompany of a medical personnel, and the post-mortem results revealed that death was due to suffocation.
Godfrey Chirombo hailed from Maluzi Village, Traditional Authority Kapichira in Kasungu District.
