Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested a 26-year-old man, Chimwemwe Phiri on suspicion that he killed Gavanala Kamanga and chopped off his private parts.
Police received information that the suspect, in the company of others currently at large, sealed a business deal with someone in Nkhotakota who promised to buy some human private parts. But when Phiri and his friends took the private parts to the agreed place, they did not find the buyer who had allegedly gone somewhere.
Following the failed deal, the suspects threw the body parts in a latrine at a certain church in the district.
Working on intelligence, Police arrested the suspect who later led them to where they had hidden the private parts. Meanwhile, the tissues have been recovered and are awaiting analysis by a pathologist.
Phiri has been charged with murder contrary to section 209 of the Penal Code and will appear before court soon. Police have since intensified investigations to arrest his accomplices.
