Police in Chikwawa have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly stealing motor vehicle spare parts.
The suspect identified as Kondwani Masimbe is alleged to have committed the offence around Dyeratu Trading Centre villages where car owners have been lodging complaints to police that their motor vehicles have been tampered whereby glasses of windows were being broken, doors unlocked and some spare parts such as lens, car batteries, engine parts and others stolen by unknown criminals.
Following the complaints, police officers were deployed on the ground to investigate the matter leading to the arrest of the suspect on September 8 2022 and after being interrogated he says that he sells the stolen spare parts in Blantyre.
He has since been charged with malicious damage and theft.
Meanwhile Police in the District are assuring people for tight security towards their property and also urged car owners to be alert all the time and join hands with Police to prevent these evil act from taking place by bringing the suspects to face the law.
Kondwani Masimbe comes from Chendile Village in Traditional Authority Nsomba in Blantyre.
