Police in Balaka have arrested a 22 year old man, Chifundo Steven for allegedly killing his mentally challenged brother and buried his body inside his own house.

District police spokesperson, Chisomo Potani Kanyimbi, says the body of the deceased, Malizani Steven 27, was discovered yesterday after neighbors noticed a bad smell coming from the house, 5 days after Malizani went missing.

The police spokesperson alleges that the suspect, Chifundo Steven had hit his brother in the head using an axe handle. Postmortem at Balaka District Hospital has revealed that death was due to a severe head injury.

Kanyimbi said the suspect will appear in court soon to answer a murder charge.
