Police in Mponela have arrested a 30 year old man identified as Kenani Kanthuumalawa on suspicion of murdering a customer who used to buy Kachasu beer at his place after he failed to repay his loan, in Dowa district.

Police spokesperson in Mponela Macpatson Msadala has confirmed the matter by adding that this happened yesterday at Dzidzi village in the district.

He said that on 26 November 2023 the late Charles Kachela Mazinga who was 55 year old, bored K12000 worth of alcohol from Kanthuumalawa and he failed to pay back the money even though he was reminded to return the money.

According to  Msadala, when the owner of the money saw this he got angry and start beating Mazinga on head using unknown weapon.

The results at the hospital are showing that the deceased died due to head injuries, and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon to answer murder charges.
