Police in Mponela in Dowa District are keeping in custody 31-year old Davide Joloza for cultivating cannabis sativa, locally known as chamba, without license.

He was arrested on March 16, 2024 at Kulumbwe Village.

Sergeant Macpatson Msadala Public Relations Officer Mponela Police Station said detectives from Mponela Police received information that Joloza was cultivating chamba behind his house.

They followed up on this and arrested the suspect who was found with 40 plants of the illicit herb in his home garden.

The officers uprooted the herb and took the suspect to the station.

Meanwhile,the suspect is in police custody awaiting a court appearance soon to answer his charge.

Joloza hails from Kulumbwe village in the area of Senior Chief Dzoole in Dowa District.
