Enock Beula, a 45-year-old man, has been detained by police in Machinga District on allegations of defiling a 9-year-old girl.

Machinga Police Public Relations Officer, Western Kansire, confirmed the arrest, stating that the incident took place on the night of May 26.

The victim, a Standard 1 student, was reportedly subjected to the assault.

Beula, who comes from Njale Village in Traditional Authority Chamba, Machinga District, is now awaiting court proceedings where he will face charges of defilement.
