There are many reasons why a couple might find it hard to conceive.
Disease, drugs, heredity, lifestyle habits or even exposure to certain chemicals, all can affect fertility.
When we are younger, we hardly pay attention to what we are doing that may increase the risk of infertility later in life.
But it is crucial to take precautionary measures early in life to avoid any complications later. Here are a few small habits that can damage the reproductive health.
Self-Medication
Never take any medication without consulting a doctor. There are certain medications that can affect your fertility.
If you are using medications, talk to your doctor on the side effects as well. Some people resort to taking steroids to increase muscle mass and for body building this is extremely unhealthy.
Anabolic steroids which are known to stimulate muscle strength and growth can have tremendous negative effects like causing the testicles to shrink and sperm production to decrease.
Lack of sleep:
Poor sleep habits have been linked to infertility through many studies, albeit not directly. Lack of sufficient sleep causes weight gain and obesity and contributes to chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, etc which in turn increase the chances of infertility.
Smoking
Say no to cigarettes and marijuana! Men who smoke have a considerably lower sperm count than men who don’t smoke. If you are a chain smoker, your partner is sure to experience difficulties while conceiving.
