Malawians welcome 2024 with fireworks, prayers

Malawians celebrated New Year 2024 on Sunday night with fireworks across the country. In all corners of the country, some people flocked to churches while others hosted parties.

In Blantyre, entertainment enthusiasts flocked to a crossover All White Party to bid farewell to 2023, a year that had multiple global crises such as the Russia-Ukraine war, the Israel-Hamas conflict and the climate emergency which had serious effects on Malawi’s economy.
