Malawian Asks Court To Open A Case Against ACB Czar Martha Chizuma

A Malawian man has asked Mzuzu magistrate court to open a case against the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma over the leaked audio.

The man,  Frighton Phombo, is arguing that Chizuma directly revealed official information to an unauthorized person in an leaked audio conversation.

Responding to Phombo’s application, Senior Resident Magistrate, Godfrey Kanyembanyemba Nyirenda has therefore ordered the Malawi Police Service (MPS) and the Director of Public Prosecutions- DPP, to investigate authenticity of the recordings that Phompho brought to court as evidence.

The police and DPP have therefore been given 90 days to provide findings of the investigations.

In January this year, there was a leaked audio, purportedly a conversation between Chizuma and an unknown person talking about some ongoing joint investigations with Britain’s National Crimes Agency.
