Malawi Queens coach Peace Chawinga-Kalua has warned that despite Malawi lying sixth on Netball World rankings it might not last due to inactivity.
The global netball rankings released on Wednesday show an intact top six with Australia in first followed by New Zealand, England on third, Jamaica in fourth, South Africa fifth and Malawi sixth.
Chawinga-Kalua: We need to play more games
Uganda, a rising netball force in Africa, has dropped from seventh to eighth.
But in an interview yestersday, Chawinga-Kalua is wary of Tonga Republic
“We are there, but we need to play more games to survive, otherwise we will go down as well. The difference with Tonga is not much and if Tonga plays more games then the position six is gone. To go tops in rank, you need to play more games, that’s it,” she said.
African teams rankings are South Africa (5), Malawi (6), Uganda (8), Zimbabwe (13), Zambia (16), Namibia (23), Botswana (24), e-Swatini (28), Kenya (35),Tanzania (40) and Lesotho (43).
