Malawi Peace Commission Demands Investigation into DPP Attacks

The Malawi Peace and Unity Commission through is Chairperson Bishop Mary Nkosi, has urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the attacks on Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) members in Lilongwe.

On Saturday, unknown thugs disrupted the DPP’s Blue Convoy Parade in Mbowe, hacking individuals and damaging at least 7 vehicles intended for the convoy.

Bishop Nkosi highlighted that such political violence denies citizens the opportunity to fully exercise their democratic rights.

Malawi police have pledged to investigate the violence and apprehend the perpetrators, while also urging political party leaders to caution their followers against engaging in violent acts.
