Islamic Commission for Justice and Freedom (ICJF) has asked Bishop Montfort Sitima to apologize to the Muslim community for claiming that some Sheikhs are preaching to pull down the current administration.
Bishop Sitima of Mangochi Diocese of the Catholic Church is alleged to have made the claims on Wednesday during the national prayers marking the 58 years of independence at BICC in Lilongwe.
Speaking during a presser in Blantyre, ICJF Commissioner Sheikh Shaibu Ajassie, said: “We ask the Bishop to provide evidence and apologize to the Sheikh’s and all Muslims for making false and evils claims,”
The grouping has also threatened to hold mass demonstrations, should the Catholic priest fail to apologize.
Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) is yet to make a comment on the matter.
