Malawi medical society pushes govt to fulfill 15% national budget allocation promise for healthcare

The Malawi Society of Medical Doctors (SMD) has asked Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe to fulfill their agreement on allocating 15 prcent of the national budget to the health sector.

According to the Society, Ministry of finance signed an agreement to respect the Abuja Declaration that it will give the health sector 15 percent of the National Budget.

Th society said the only thing to overcome health challenges the country if facing, is by having enough money in the Ministry of Health.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) for SMD, Dr. Zaziwe Fatsani Gundah, said despite that the health situation is critical, government never came up with necessary solution in this.

Government is yet to comment on the matter.
