Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has blasted President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership, saying the country has a President and has no leader.

Mutharika said this during his address held at PAGE house in the Eastern District of Mangichi.

In his speech Mutharika said President Lazarus Chakwera promised to take this nation to the promised land but he has taken it to “Bagamoyo”.

“Malawi has a President but it has no leader. The country needs a leader,” said Mutharika.

He further said that Chakwera is using violence to rule the country.

“Chakwera promised to shed blood to gain power. They used violence along with HRDC. These are the oppressors we are dealing with. We are victims of government sponsored violence,” he added.

He said he knows Malawians are in pain but they are not alone. “Iam with you, the DPP is with you, i promise from the depth of my heart.

“MCP days are numbered,” warning them to stop violence.
