Malawi has condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, saying the use of force as a means of settling disputes by anyone, at anytime and anywhere in the world is unwelcome.
This has been said in a statement released by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation made available to faceofmalawi.
According to the statement, any conflict is needless, particularly now when the global community is fighting the Covid pandemic and other humanitarian crises.
“We, therefore, appeal to the Russian Federation to withdraw its forces from Ukraine and create a platform for a negotiated solution to the crisis for the sake of humanity’s shared aspirations of a secure and peaceful world for all,” the statement reads.
The statement further says that in a globalised world, any threats towards peace and security of any country should be a cause of concern for all United Nations (UN) member states.
“As a peace-loving country, we believe in the respect and protection of the sanctity of territorial integrity and the sovereignty of all UN member states in consonance with international law, in general, and the United Nations Charter in particular,” reads part of the statement.
