Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the death of Malawi’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union Commission Charles Msosa, 63, at Nordic Medical Centre in Addis Ababa.

The ministry said the diplomat was receiving medical treatment in Addis Ababa before he was pronounced dead on Monday at around 9pm.
The ministry’s spokesperson John Kabaghe said the funeral programme will be communicated later after arrangements to repatriate the body home are finalised.
Meanwhile, President Lazarus Chakwera has expressed profound sadness at the death of ambassador Msosa.
In a press statement, the President described Msosa as a dedicated public servant and diplomat who contributed immensely to Malawi’s cordial relationship with other nations.
Said Chakwera: “We express our deepest sympathies and share this moment of sadness and loss with the Msosa family and the entire nation.”
Msosa was one of the ambassadors President Lazarus Chakwera appointed last year. He was a veteran diplomat who previously served as Malawi’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, United States from February 2013 under the Democratic Progressive Party government.
Before going to New York, Msosa was Principal Secretary (PS) responsible for Administration in the Office of the President and Cabinet from November 2008. Between June 2006 and November 2008, he held the same rank in the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
Msosa was also PS in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security from August 2004 to June 2006, having held the same position between January 2000 and August 2004, in the Office of the Vice-President.
He joined the civil service in 1983 as a management analyst/consultant involved in restructuring ministries and departments, among other duties.
He was born on June 3 1959.
